Stick In The Mud

Stick In The Mud is an energetic game that challenges children’s flexibility and balance as well as their speed.

It’s best played on the grass as crawling on the ground is required.

How To Play

This is a variation on original Tag. One person is chosen to be It, which means they must chase the other players in order to ‘tag’ them. It runs up as close as possible to another player and uses either hand to reach out and touch (rather than hit) them.

That person must then stand still with their legs and arms apart, as if they were frozen. Players who have not been tagged are able to ‘free’ a frozen person simply by crawling between their legs – easy does it though, so no one gets knocked off their feet!

The aim of the game is to avoid being the last person unfrozen or you will become It for the next game.
